Horizon Forbidden West PS5 gameplay: explore San Francisco in 4K 60fps with our gameplay video

In addition to its many qualities, Horizon Forbidden West can claim the title of technological showcase for the PlayStation 5. More than pure technique, it is above all its artistic direction that impresses: a cocktail of gigantic abandoned machines, ruins devastated, lush nature. Without of course forgetting the metal creatures that are still very much alive. In this video, we invite you to take a look at some of the highlights of our session, all without spoilers.

As we told you in our test d’Horizon Forbidden West, with the new title from the Guerrilla studio “you will be amazed for a long time” (allow 20 hours in a straight line for the main quest and nearly 60 hours for a 100%). Because despite some technical problems which should gradually disappear as the patches progress – still a little aliasing in very busy areas, some sound and collision bugs – this second episode is beautiful, very beautifulmuch more thanHorizon Zero Dawn. And the best part of it all: this is the case on both PS5, PS4 Pro and Fat, thanks to exemplary cross-gen work.

Direction San Francisco

And more than fine speeches, we show you all this on video. The first stop on our journey: the ruins of the city of San Francisco, already featured in the game’s gameplay video, in May 2021. This is a particularly important area in the main adventure, although of course, we will not tell you more. The place really impresses with its size and artistic direction. To move around, we use the Ailgide in particular – equivalent to the paraglider from Zelda Breath of the Wild – but we come across machines, which we have chosen to avoid here. Finally, we take advantage of this trip to take a dip in the water. Because yes, Horizon Forbidden West welcomes underwater phases as a novelty. Aloy can indeed stay in the water at will thanks to her diving suit. A new world is offered to her as well as to the player.

A strong opponent

We finally finish with the last part of the video, once morest a flying machine that will give us a hard time. To overcome it, we appeal to the new version of Focus, Aloy’s favorite tool, which now allows her to navigate between each room of a metal monster, and even lock them individually. What very quickly identify the big weak points of the creature, in particular those capable of triggering a chain reaction or detaching a weapon, to win the victory.
