Agadir 24 | Agadir24
The city of Agadir, especially the area between the Mohammedan neighborhood and the great stadium in Agadir and along the national road No. 8, witnessed an unprecedented attack of hundreds of heads of camels and herds of goats and sheep to the city center and its outskirts, which have become roaming and arriving in the middle of the streets and neighborhoods of the city without the intervention of the competent authorities to stop this dissonance phenomenon.
On Wednesday and Thursday, March 23/24, 2023, environmental activists of the Bizaj Association for the Protection of the Environment stood on alarming scenes of the unacceptable attack and the opening of the urban space of Agadir in the de facto area between the Mohammedan neighborhood and the entrance to the Adrar stadium in the Dakhla neighborhood, on manifestations of stability to care for nomads in Mashhad Tarif and the encroachment of the urban space and what remains From the forests and seedlings of the pillars that were planted in the framework of previous initiatives in the vicinity of the Adrar stadium.
At a time when the celebration of the International Day of Forests and Water coincides, traffic and road safety is threatened by overgrazing and herds of camels in defiance of all laws and customs, and even sweeping animals to some residential neighborhoods along residential homes, especially the areas of the Mohammedan neighborhood, the Adrar neighborhood, Telila, and Ilig in a way that distorts and harms the view In addition to the danger and inconvenience caused by these pastoral behaviors to the comfort of the inhabitant.
The Bizag Environment Association has previously warned and denounced the continued invasion of herds of camels in the hundreds of the city’s surroundings. The association considers that the phenomenon harms the tourism reputation of Agadir, and is part of the assault and a violation of environmental laws and sustainable development, the protection and valuation of the Arkan biosphere reserves, and the strengthening of the green belt of the city of Agadir, not to mention the threat to road and traffic safety in one of the most dynamic axes in the heart of the city and its outskirts due to camel grazing next to the roads and what Or it causes serious traffic accidents that threaten the safety and health of road users, not to mention the attack also on the green field of the Argan forests, which are supposed to be protected from diseases transmitted by camels and camels, valued and sustained, especially in times of climate change, declining water resources and deteriorating forest areas, due to severe drought. scarcity of precipitation and decline in production,
Knowing as well that there is a study to create special grazing paths that preserve the property of the residents and those who exploit the Arkan forests who have rights, and protect urban areas from manifestations of overgrazing, overgrazing, and illegality and the permissibility of the urban green space.
This phenomenon also harms the image of Agadir and the recent urban development projects known to all neighborhoods and regions in order to improve the quality of life, public facilities and green spaces.
It should be noted that the real areas of grazing are areas designated by state institutions according to open paths for grazing legally, not the argan forests, and the blatant encroachment on the urban center and the green space in it. As the association considers this phenomenon a dangerous precedent, it calls on everyone to activate laws on protecting the environment and protecting the rights, health and safety of citizens. Organizing pastoral areas to protect the rights and obligations of all.
We also call on the local soil officials and the local authorities according to the provinces not to be lenient with the phenomenon, through the implementation of the law, as it is inconceivable that hundreds of camels and herds roam the urban area without moving a finger and allow them to travel kilometers and pass without accountability, supervision or interference, while they roam the surrounding forest field The vital activity of argan following a major drought and animal-borne diseases limit the production of argan as well as the urban area.
As an association, we demand the need to seriously deal with the pastoral phenomenon that everyone is complaining regarding, as long as there are places designated for grazing in areas other than urban areas, forests, farmers’ fields, and those with rights from the pillar forests. We are regarding to celebrate the International Unique Tree Day.
