Hook Entertainment has spoken out following a lawsuit that was filed Lee Seung Gi. The agency objected to accusations of not paying Lee Seung Gi’s wages during his 18-year career as a singer.
Previously on Thursday (17/11/2022), Lee Seung Gi asked Hook Entertainment for salary transparency. The public was shocked by the voice recording of Hook Entertainment CEO Kwon Jin Young threatening to kill Lee Seung Gi.
In an official statement released Friday (25/11/2022), Hook Entertainment apologized for the controversy that shocked the public. Lee Seung Gi is said to have received his wages following extending his contract last year. However, Hook Entertainment did not dispute Kwon Jin Young’s voice recording which was released by Dispatch.

“First of all, we are very ashamed and want to apologize to many people for the bad image we have shown through the news recently, including the legal conflict with Lee Seung Gi. We would also like to take this opportunity to convey our apologies to Lee Seung Gi, who is undoubtedly having a hard time due to recent events.”
“In addition, we bow our heads in apology to everyone who was hurt and surprised by CEO Kwon Jin Young’s verbal misconduct,” Hook Entertainment said in a statement.
Lee Seung Gi Becomes a Victim of Gaslighting
Meanwhile, Lee Seung Gi is reported to have been the victim of gaslighting by Hook Entertainment CEO Kwon Jin Young. According to Lee Seung Gi’s manager, Kwon Jin Young called him a ‘minus’ singer which was unprofitable for the agency.
Lee Seung Gi also felt discouraged and thought he was making no money other than a career as a Korean drama actor, commercial star, and variety show member.

“The CEO is always brainwashing Lee Seung Gi by saying ‘You are a ‘minus’ singer. Your fans don’t spend money, but they have many demands. You make money with other things. Think of singing as fan service’. From Lee Seung Gi’s point of view, he prefers not to be criticized rather than paid,” said Lee Seung Gi’s manager as quoted by Dispatch.
