The entertainment agency Hook Entertainment (herefollowing referred to as Hook) gave 5.4 billion won in unpaid settlement money to singer and actor Lee Seung-gi, who was an entertainer, and insisted in court to return 900 million won.

On the 23rd, at the first hearing in the lawsuit for non-existence of debt, which was held at the Seoul Central District Court Civil Settlement Division 20 (Chief Judge Lee Se-ra), Hook said, “We need to get back 900 million won in fees from Lee Seung-gi.”

Previously, Hook’s side filed a lawsuit with the intention of confirming that there was no more money to give him following paying 5.4 billion won in settlement. Lee Seung-gi’s side filed a countersuit claiming 3 billion won in settlement money, saying that there was still money to be received.

Lee Seung-gi’s lawyer explained, “Although the agency fee has been lowered from 10% to 7%, the hook side has hidden it and continued to deduct 10% before distributing the profits, so we have to receive more settlement money.” Hook’s side did not reveal any particular position.

Lee Seung-gi raised a problem with Hook last year and canceled the contract, saying that he had not received a single penny of the music usage fee following his debut. Afterwards, Hook sent the settlement money calculated on its own to Lee Seung-gi, but Lee Seung-gi said, “I am trying to conclude the case unilaterally,” and sued four executives, including Hook CEO Kwon Jin-young, for embezzlement and fraud in business.
