A cashier experienced a moment of terror when she was approached by a thief with a butcher knife in a store in Cajamarca, Tolima.
A. Vega, a supermarket cashier, was the victim of a violent assault last Saturday, April 20. When a hooded subject grabbed her neck and intimidated her with a butcher knife.
“The subject entered while I was serving a client, grabbed me by the neck with the gun in his hand and, seeing that I was trying to resist, cut off my arms”Vega told the OndasdeIbague media.
During the struggle, the aggressor threateningly demanded money from the cash register, while she activated the panic buttons.
“He told me he would cut my throat if I didn’t give him the money, so I had to give in.”
After taking the cash, the hooded man fled, leaving Vega injured and in a state of shock.
Public order
The cashier left to look for help, and was later taken to the hospital.
The woman was treated and is out of danger. Additionally, she confirmed that she received a one-month medical disability as a result of the incident.
The thief took loot of approximately one million pesos.
Local authorities continue to investigate the case and remain on alert to prevent future criminal acts in the area.
