As I had said at the beginning of 2022, more folding will appear on the scene from brands other than Samsung, Motorola, Microsoft and Huawei, which are the ones that have shown that form factor so far.
And… indeed, it is happening! First was Oppo that has managed to surprise many with its Find N And now it is Honor with its Magic V that comes loaded with news.
The Honor Magic V is the brand’s first folding 5G smartphone that, inside, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. This processor, in addition to optimizing energy consumption, promises transmission speeds of up to 10 Gbps in 5G and multiple Gbps on Wi-Fi 6 & 6E. According to Qualcomm, the performance at the AI level is optimized to offer an “elite” experience (whatever that means) in games (will have to be put to the test to attest to those claims).
Like the Oppo Find N, Honor Magic V has an advanced floating “waterdrop” hinge so that the crease is not as visible when unfolding the 7.9 “screen (quite large). The exterior screen has dimensions similar to those of traditional 6.45 ″ smartphones, in such a way that, everything seems to indicate that it will be possible to produce easily, even when the smartphone is folded.

At the camera level, the Honor Magic V exhibits a triple exterior module, with a 50 MP main camera with the equivalent of a 23 mm lens, a 50 MP wide angle with the equivalent of a 13 lens and a sensor of 50 MP with color spectrum. For lovers of “selfies”, this new smartphone will have the equivalent of 42 MP front cameras.

At the level of other specifications of interest regarding the Honor Magic V, there are the following:
- Version of 12 of RAM and 256/512 of ROM,
- 4,750mAh battery with 66W fast charge to go from 0 to 50% in regarding 15 mins,
- Approximate price of USD $ 1,570 for the 256 GB version of ROM and USD $ 1,725 for the 512 version of ROM, although it is not yet very clear if the Honor Magic V will be marketed outside of China.
As you can guess, the fight in the field of folding smartphones will become more and more intense!
