Presented to the global public recently, the Honor Magic 6 Lite is an intermediary whose mission is to face a series of competitors from Motorola, Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO and other brands.
Therefore, its main difference is its eye-catching design, as well as a curved AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset and a powerful 5,300 mAh battery.
With Honor’s possible debut in the Brazilian market, is it worth buying the Magic 6 Lite if it appears here?
We will answer these and other questions in this hads-on text that was created in partnership with HDBlog.
Design and construction
Despite being an intermediate smartphone, the Honor Magic 6 Lite wants to give the consumer that feeling of a premium cell phone. Therefore, it inherits the visual language of the more expensive models in the line.
In this generation, Honor took care to make the rear camera module less prominent, and the version we tested has a vegan leather finish, something that gives a good grip in the hands and gives the feeling of a more expensive device.
An important detail of this generation’s smartphone is that it lost the infrared sensor that we had on the Magic 5 Lite. But, to make up for this, we have a “hard to fall” cell phone thanks to an improvement that Honor made in its construction.
The new three-layer protection system once morest shocks and falls resulted in the Honor Magic 6 Lite achieving the five-star seal within the SGS certification.
Moving on to what comes in the box, we have the device, charging cable, manuals and chip removal key. In other words, no charger.
Screen and hardware
The Honor Magic 6 Lite has a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a front hole, 1.5K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate.
The screen frames are now more harmonious and pleasant compared to the previous generation. Furthermore, this panel has a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, something that is more than enough for use outdoors.
With the Honor Magic 6 Lite you can unlock it using the fingerprint reader under the screen, which in this generation is much more responsive. The other option is facial unlocking, which can be very useful in everyday life, but does not provide the same security.
Moving on to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, we have a great experience for use on social networks, messengers and even casual games from the Play Store.
The chip works together with 8 GB of RAM, which can be virtually expanded to up to 16 GB, and 256 GB of internal storage. As we had a RAM upgrade to LPDDR5 in dual channel and UFS 3.1 memory, the overall performance far surpasses what we had on the Magic 5 Lite
Furthermore, the 4 nanometer processor heats up little thanks to Honor’s good cooling system. In practice, when playing with Genshin Impact it was possible to obtain an average of 60 fps in medium quality, and the device presented fluidity close to perfection.
In short, the experience has improved a lot in this generation since in the previous model we had continuous lag. In connectivity, we have 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC for contactless payments.
In the global variant, the Honor Magic 6 Lite has a 5,300 mAh battery instead of the 5,800 mAh of the Chinese model.
In any case, this is not something to worry regarding, as the Magic 6 Lite can easily reach the 8 hour mark of active display.

Software
The Honor Magic 6 Lite comes out of the box running Android 13 under the MagicOS 7.2 interface. The software has fluid animations and good performance on this hardware.
Not to mention that it is well optimized for the set, guaranteeing good autonomy and performance in games. However, the fact that the Magic 6 Lite was launched with Android 13 at the end of 2023 should disrupt the update schedule.
This is because Honor guarantees two major updates and an extra year of security updates for its mid-range smartphones. If it had come out of the box with Android 14, it would have received up to 16, but it should end at Android 15.
Furthermore, the design of MagicOS has that Chinese cell phone look that many love and others don’t like very much.
Cmeras
Unlike the previous generation, the Honor Magic 6 Lite has a 108 MP camera, something that marks a considerable evolution in the sensor.
Furthermore, its size has grown and the software compresses 9 pixels into 1 to deliver 12 MP quality photos. Honor also says that this sensor is capable of taking 3x digital zoom photos “without loss of quality.”
In practice, you will get good photos with the Magic 6 Lite in ideal scenarios, such as sunny days, well-lit environments and the like.
The photos have a good level of detail, colors close to reality and no major notable defects as long as you are patient.
This is because the camera software clearly needs an adjustment because every now and then the device takes a photo with half optimization, delivering a washed out image. This forces the user to take a second photo to get a perfect photo.
In night environments, as long as the software gets it right, we have a little noise, but it’s not that serious.
This also applies to when you zoom 3 times. Despite being completely digital, we have an even satisfactory solution within this smartphone category.
Unfortunately, on the Magic 6 Lite we don’t have the option to capture photos in RAW format, but at least video recording in 4K quality at 30 fps is now present in the software.
As for the other rear cameras, here we have that old Chinese practice of placing low-resolution sensors to make volume. The ultrawide sensor is 5 MP and is only used for capturing in very favorable locations, and the same goes for the 2 MP depth sensor.
Finally, selfies are guaranteed by the 16 MP front lens and the photos are as expected for you to post on social networks. Nothing too exceptional, but not bad either.
First impressions
Launched in Europe in mid-to-late 2023, the Honor Magic 6 Lite is ready to fight with other intermediaries not only on the old continent, but perhaps even here in Brazil.
Its official price is approximately R$2,158, but Honor has been aggressive and has already offered the device for the equivalent of R$1,618, something that is competitive for a launch.
In this price range, the Honor Magic 6 Lite manages to have good value for money once morest the Motorola Moto G84 and other devices in the category that use the Snapdragon 695.
Furthermore, the improvements over the previous model are not revolutionary, but they improve the experience and bring the Honor Magic 6 Lite closer to what we consider ideal.
However, it remains to be seen whether this device will appear here in Brazil, as Honor has been promoting the Magic 5 Lite model on local profiles.
