He mentioned “emblematic” cases such as that of Cáceres and the peasant leader Margarita Murillo, “one of the first to say that we did not want drug traffickers in political parties” and who ended up murdered on August 27, 2015.

Perdomo also highlighted that the prosecutor investigating Murillo’s murder, Marlene Banegas, who was mentioned in the trial, was also murdered on October 10 of that year.
“Honduras is a society in total collapse,” said the Central American, pointing out that drug traffickers control the Police and the Army, and are present in all spheres of the Government.
Another of the protesters present in front of the court is Nora Rodríguez, whose daughter Keyla, a nursing student, was murdered in a cell, following she was detained for allegedly violating a curfew in 2021, during the covid pandemic.
According to his mother, “at first they told me that he had committed suicide with a T-shirt in the cell, which we did not believe.” The autopsy indicated that he died of asphyxiation and had a blow, she recalled, and regretted that those responsible are still at large.

Only the jailer served time, but no one else, said Rodríguez, who has lived in Madrid for several years.
Rodríguez, who was wearing a T-shirt with his daughter’s photo, He hopes that Hernández will be found guilty and that in this way there will be “a little justice” for all the victims.
