When Honda releases a new model, it’s a bit like bringing your new IKEA shelf from the store home, one piece a day. You will eventually have the complete unit, but first you have to be patient. So, following showing a single image of the exterior of the model, then finally the complete exterior of the vehicle last week, Honda today offered a preview of the 2023 Honda HR-V’s cabin – or at least part of it.
We’ll cut to the chase and tell you right now that the 2023 HR-V (North American Edition) will have an interior inspired by the next-gen Civic. Which is quite logical given that the two models share the same platform. This means that the small SUV’s dashboard and screen user interface will have a real family resemblance to those of Honda’s compact sedan.
Of course, the HR-V will have the non-negligible advantage of offering greater flexibility, with more second-row space and a longer trunk. Then those who don’t like push-button gear selectors will be happy to find that the next HR-V retains a real lever.

Beyond that, however, there are corners of the cabin that remain under wraps for now. So do details regarding the new HR-V’s powertrain capabilities. For now, we’re sticking strictly to Honda’s promise that it will have a ‘more responsive engine’.
The 2023 Honda HR-V will arrive in dealerships this summer. Hopefully by then we will have all the parts needed to build the complete IKEA shelving unit.
