Legal medicine reported that between January and September 2022, 9,844 homicides have been registered in the country, which is equivalent to 36 violent deaths every day in the different areas of Colombia.
In the report, Legal Medicine highlighted that it is worrying that of these more than nine thousand homicides, 469 correspond only to children and adolescents, being alarming that in Mitú, Vaupés, 282 of these murders of minors are registered.
However, another figure that Legal Medicine highlighted is that during the nine months of 2022, 758 homicides correspond to women.
This is how the cities that register the most homicides this year are Bogotá with 749; Cali with 705; Barranquilla with 286 and Cartagena with 276.
At this point, it was highlighted in the report that this year is the one with the most homicides in recent times in the country, since for the same period in 2021 there were 9,672 deaths, 172 less than this year, in 2020 7,877 homicides were documented. , and in 2019 8,612.
Sexual violence in 2022
In this same report, Legal Medicine revealed that between January and September 2022, 15,823 children and adolescents had been sexually abused in Colombia, with the majority of victims being girls with 13,851 cases, while boys registered 1,971 sexual attacks.
The ages in which sexual abuse occurs the most are between 10 and 14 years with 8,430 cases; followed by 5 to 9 years with 3,188 cases and 15 to 17 years with 2,846 cases.
