On Saturday night, the official opening of Hometown Collective Studios took place, a new health and wellness space that opens its doors in East Hampton, with the idea of becoming a meeting point for the East End community, offering a variety of services and activities, both in English and Spanish.

The studios, located at 65 Montauk Highway, in East Hampton, are the result of several years of dreams, planning and searching by a mother of Ecuadorian origin and her two daughters. Three entrepreneurs who harbored the dream of creating their own business and are now witnessing the crystallization of that dream.

“It had always been on my mind and in my heart to do something like this. I raised my children alone, I focused more on providing and making sure there was always a provision, so I was afraid to risk something big so as not to destabilize my family. But when they enter the workforce, to work in the area they like, then that is where we decided to do it together,” says Adriana León, mother and partner of her daughters in Hometown Collective Studios.

Combining the strengths of each of them, in this space the community will be offered various options to feed the body and spirit: A Yoga studio, directed by Erika García, the eldest of the sisters, who has a diploma in arts plastics and is a yoga teacher, there will also be a studio specialized in body contouring in which Karen García, the younger sister, a certified cosmetologist, will offer innovative techniques to drain and shape the figure; and a third space, run by their mother, Adriana León, where Spanish classes will be taught for children and multiple crafts and spiritual enrichment workshops will be offered for adults and children.

“One of the biggest ideas was to have a place all year round, for the community that is here. Not only American but also for the Spanish-speaking community,” said Erika García, co-owner of Hometown Collective Studios. “Since we grew up here and have gone to school here, we have always been surrounded by English and Spanish, so it is very easy for us to attract both communities. I think there is a very big separation, but when there are activities and classes, we have an opportunity to integrate the community, so that together we can grow.”

And precisely thinking about the idea of growing, these three entrepreneurs have also decided to open their space so that other members of the community who need to have access to a studio to publicize their skills, give a conference, hold a meeting with their employees, Schedule a class or workshop, you can have this option 7 days a week.

“We know that the rent here is very high and it is very difficult for a person to try to start their business and maintain it, especially if it is a person. So we said we have the space, and there are many open spaces, why don’t we bring in other people who already have their own clientele, who can rent any of the three studios and also grow themselves, but people who are local, so that they can also undertake,” said Ericka García.

“We also want to create a space for children. When there are breaks in schools, parents suffer thinking about where I am going to leave my children if I have to work. We usually know that if they are left in someone’s care they will be on their cell phone all day, or watching television. So that is the desire too, to have this place open for when they have the break, so that they can come and do artistic and educational activities,” said Mrs. León.

The ideas of this dynamic trio are not limited only to the services and activities in the three studios, because they plan to also have a store where products, crafts and crafts made by local entrepreneurs are for sale. Another way, they say, to support the community and highlight the talent of East End residents.

“We are proud of what we have done as a family, but more importantly as women. We want to be firm in what we believe and focus not only on ourselves, but on the town that gave us the opportunities and where we all grew up,” said Karen García. “It is a dream come true, it is going to be like our baby, it is a “a place where we are going to focus a lot on the mental, physical, spiritual and community.”

“I am very excited and very blessed to have two enterprising, brave, hard-working daughters who fight for their dreams and who have learned a lot from me,” Adriana León says with a laugh.
