Daniel Arnold (49) is very happy: “It’s sensational that our modest group was even able to dethrone world stars like Beyoncé. That shows how much our songs regarding home, family and love go to the heart.”
Arnold is a dispatcher at the operations center of the Uri cantonal police. In his spare time he has been singing in the Heimweh male choir since 2016. And he’s been number 1 in the hit parade since Wednesday with the record “Freiheit”. Beyoncé (40), on the other hand, only made it to third place with her new album “Renaissance”.
Like balm on the battered soul
This first place is like balm for the battered soul, says Arnold, who has had his hands full in recent weeks due to the many Gotthard traffic jams. Because with him, all emergency calls come together via the numbers 112, 117 and 118. The summer holidays will soon be over, “fortunately it should be a little quieter for us once more”.

Thanks to homesickness, the father of three doesn’t get bored. There are a number of concerts in autumn, the next one will be the male choir at the Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Pratteln BL. “We’re performing there for the third time,” says Arnold, “it’s always a wonderful highlight for us.”
