Now the accused have been investigated. Three were taken to the Salzburg prison by order of the public prosecutor’s office, the other three are reported to be at large, the police reported in a broadcast on Saturday evening.
On August 30th, there was a verbal argument between two groups at Südtiroler Platz, which ultimately ended in a fight with three people injured. The perpetrators are said to have provoked the argument and finally attacked the group of homeless people, injuring them with punches to the head area and body. When the people were already on the ground, the accused kicked the victims.
After the group of people from Südtirolerplatz defended themselves, the situation escalated. When the police arrived, one of the injured people was being treated by the Red Cross. The youth group fled. The six accused were now identified and house searches were carried out on orders from the public prosecutor. The young people were a 15-year-old Afghan, a 15-year-old Romanian, a 17-year-old Syrian, two 17-year-old Austrians and a 19-year-old Russian – all from the city of Salzburg.
