Sixty-eight elderly people assisted by Lar São Vicente de Paulo, in the neighborhood of Kassai, municipality of Lobito, an institution managed by the sisters Daughters of Charity of São Vicente, received basic necessities, in order to guarantee a dignified Christmas.

The assets will also allow the home to also support other elderly people in the surrounding area, most of whom are abandoned by family members.

At the center, each elderly person has a story to tell regarding the circumstances that led them to end up in the home of the Sisters Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, nuns who dedicated themselves to this segment of social assistance 25 years ago.

Some, due to alleged abandonment by family members, others voluntarily and there are still those who the center took in following notifying people in the community, following having lived on the street.

At home they found the support and, above all, the medical assistance they needed, as the institution has a medical center designed exclusively with the elderly in mind.

Elderly Isabel Florinda, with albino skin tone, says she was abandoned by her family and, for several days, was forced to spend the night on the streets, where she even became a victim of criminals.

Having heard somewhere regarding the existence of a Home, she went there in the hope of finding a “charitable hand” that might support her. Since January 20th, she has received, in addition to regular food and medical assistance, spiritual support from her sisters.

In turn, the oldest Maria de Fátima, who has been in Kassai’s home for around 20 years, plans a more fulfilling Christmas for them this year with the products now donated, but, despite this, asks that the gesture not be left behind. around.

The benefactor of the charitable action was Banco Keve, which limited the gesture within the scope of its objective of community engagement. This banking entity took in its luggage goods that make up the basic food basket, namely rice, beans, sugar, oil, pasta, spaghetti and other hygiene products.

Speaking to the press, the president of the board of directors of Banco Keve, Elsa Dalila Silva, assures that this support segment of her institution will continue to look following the center, as the needs go beyond those of a food nature.

“They ask us for more support, of course, to improve the infrastructure here, because they need it to accommodate our elders, but they do so with a lightness of spirit that deserves our respect”, he says, signaling that your institution, within the scope of its social responsibility, is designing a series of projects whose aim is to help those most in need.

Sister Eduarda Nassapalo, one of the managers of the Home, said that the products reversed a scenario of difficulty that was envisaged, due to the dizzying rise of basic food products on the market, for some time now, leaving, therefore, the religious quite apprehensive, not knowing what to do to feed the 18 elderly inmates, in addition to another 60 who, weekly, receive food.

The center survives thanks to the charitable actions of Spanish missionaries, who send support from that European Union country, and people of good will.

“Thank you very much, we are very happy with your generosity. We’re going to have a different festive season, we’re going to be here with our grandparents, because we often forget regarding them without knowing that we’ll also be there.

All the affection, love, would be very little from us”, expressed the managing sister.
