Let’s listen to the audio meditation of today’s Gospel, Monday, according to Saint Matthew 1:18-25: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary, your wife”, with Father John Montoya.
Let us ask the Holy Spirit for help, to help us meditate on the reflection of today’s readings, Monday.
Saint of the day:
Saint Modesto, Patriarch of Jerusalem. He rebuilt monasteries and with much work rebuilt the shrines of Jerusalem destroyed by the devastating fire
Words to meditate today:
Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary, your wife, because what has been conceived in her comes from the Holy Spirit. (Cf. Matthew 1,18-25)
Readings for today Monday.
Jeremiah 23:5-8: “I will raise up a righteous shoot for David.”
Behold, the days are coming, says Yahweh, when I will raise up for David a righteous branch; As a king he will reign and rule with wisdom, he will do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved, Israel will dwell in safety. This is the name they give him: “The Lord, our justice.”
Therefore, the days will come, says the Lord, when they will no longer say: “As Yahweh lives, who brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt”; but rather: “As Yahweh lives, he brought up the descendants of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands to which I banished them; they will live once more in his own land.” God’s word.
Today’s psalm.
Psalm 72(71): “Righteousness will flourish in its time, and fullness of peace forever.” (R)
O God, endow the king with your judgment and with your justice the king’s son; He will rule your people with justice and your afflicted with judgment. /R.
Because he will rescue the poor when he cries and the afflicted when he has no one to help him. He will take pity on the humble and the poor; he will save the lives of the poor. /R.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wonders. And blessed be his glorious name forever; May the whole earth be filled with his glory. /R.
Today’s Gospel.
Matthew 1:18-25: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary, your wife.”
This was the origin of Jesus Christ: Mary, his mother, was engaged to Joseph and, when they had not yet lived together, she conceived a son by the power of the Holy Spirit. José, her husband, who was a just man and did not want to denounce her publicly, decided to leave her secretly. While he was thinking regarding this, the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for what has been conceived in her comes from the Holy Spirit. She will give to give birth to a son, whom you will name Jesus, because he will save his people from all their sins. All this happened so that what the Lord had announced through the Prophet would be fulfilled: The Virgin will conceive and give birth to a son who will be called Immanuel, which translated means: “God with us.” Upon waking up, Joseph did what the Angel of the Lord had ordered him: he took Mary to her house, and without them having lived together, she gave birth to a son, and he named him Jesus. Lord’s word.
Reflection Pope Francis.
In the Gospel of the day (cf. Mt 1:18-25), we see that the angel helps Joseph resolve the drama that assails him when he learns of Mary’s pregnancy… Life often puts us in situations that we do not understand. and that seem to have no solution. Praying in those moments means letting the Lord show us what needs to be done. In fact, very often it is prayer that gives us the intuition of the way out… The Lord never allows a problem to arise without also giving us the help necessary to face it. He does not throw us into the fire alone. He does not throw us among the wild beasts. No. When the Lord shows us a problem, or reveals a problem to us, he always gives us the intuition, the help, the presence of it, to get out of it, to solve it… (Homily of Pope Francis on today’s Gospel )
Phrase from the Pope.
Let us often turn to Mary, Mother of believers! The various forms of Marian devotion, especially the recitation of the Holy Rosary, will help us live our path of faith and Christian witness. Let us pray together. (Pope Francis, May 7, 2022)

Pope Francis: Holy, not worldly. God’s grace saves us from inner corruption.
Holiness is the incessant and tireless desire to remain united to the cross of Jesus, as Pope Francis wrote in his new book: Holy, not worldly.
Intentions of the day.
In today’s Gospel, Monday, according to Saint Matthew 1:18-25, we can read: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary, your wife, because what has been conceived in her comes from the Holy Spirit.” The Daily Word immerses us in the drama and divine grace that surrounded the birth of Jesus. Joseph, faced with a perplexing situation, receives divine revelation regarding the true nature of Mary’s pregnancy. Jesus’ name reveals his identity and saving mission, while the fulfillment of prophecies highlights the divine connection through Scripture.
