ONE of the reactions of celebrities to the re-election of Donald Trump as President of the United States was disappointment and anger. Cardi B, Ariana Grande, and Stephen King are among the names who expressed anger and disappointment over the results of the general election in the United States.

Tuesday’s Republican victory over opponent Kamala Harris sent shockwaves through Hollywood. Previously, the Democratic candidate ran a campaign filled with A-list celebrities including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Bruce Springsteen and Julia Roberts.

Rapper Cardi B, who performed at a rally for Harris, shared a video on Instagram of herself watching the election results with the caption: “I hate y’all.” When asked if he would attend Trump’s inauguration in a live broadcast on Instagram, he replied: “I’m sick of you guys! Just burn your hats. I’m really sad. I swear to God, I’m really sad.”

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis wrote, “a return to stricter times, times filled with fear and cruelty” and minority groups will be more afraid.

“However, the most important thing is that we must stand up and fight. Fight for our women and children and their future and fight against tyranny, day after day. One fight at a time. One protest at a time. That is what it means to be an American.”

Actor John Cusack, long politically outspoken online, wrote: “The fact that this country chose to destroy itself by electing a convicted rapist and convicted Nazi to death is a sign of deep nihilism. In simple terms it can be said that.”

Christina Applegate, star of Dead to Me and Married… with Children, expressed her disappointment at the impact the election results will have on women’s groups.

“My daughter cried because her rights as a woman might be taken away. Why? And if you don’t agree, please unfollow me.”

Billie Eilish voiced her thoughts on her Instagram Story, calling it a “war on women.”

Ariana Grande wrote in an Instagram Story, “holding the hand of everyone who feels the immeasurable weight of today’s outcome.”

The Wire actor Wendell Pierce congratulated Harris on running a “great campaign” and warned of what would happen under a Trump administration.

“Elections have consequences. The Supreme Court will change for a generation. “I will never see a moderate court again in my lifetime,” Pierce said.

Oscar winner Viola Davis also thanked Harris for her “courage” and for “loving the promise of America.” He added “I am proud and will always be proud.”

Author Stephen King also said the same thing: “There’s a sign you see in many stores that sell beautiful but fragile things: beautiful to look at, pleasant to hold, but once you break it, it’s for sale. You could say the same thing about democracy.”(M-3)

**Dr.⁣ Rivers:** The backlash is largely driven by the⁣ disparity between the values represented by the Hollywood‍ elite and Trump’s policies. ⁣Many celebrities, like Cardi B and Jamie Lee Curtis, have ⁢built their platforms around themes of inclusivity and ‍social⁣ justice. Trump’s victory starkly contrasts those ideals, prompting an emotional response from those who fear the‍ implications of his policies ‌on marginalized communities.

**Interviewer:** Cardi⁣ B expressed her feelings ⁤on Instagram quite candidly. How impactful do you think celebrity ⁢voices are in shaping public opinion, especially during pivotal moments like election⁤ results? ⁤

**Dr. Rivers:** ⁤Celebrities hold significant sway ⁣over public opinion,⁣ particularly among younger demographics.
