Hollywood actor Bruce Willis’ family has revealed that he has been diagnosed with dementia, due to which he will no longer act.
Willis has specifically been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), according to the Associated Press.
According to a statement released by Bruce Wilson’s family, the 67-year-old actor’s condition worsened after he was diagnosed with aphasia last year.
Willis’ family said: ‘Unfortunately the difficulty with communication is only one symptom of Bruce’s illness. Although it is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.’
Willis’ family added: ‘FTD is a very cruel disease that many of us have never heard of. Anyone can get this disease.’
FTD is the most common form of dementia for people under the age of 60. Because the disease can take years to diagnose, FTD is probably more common than we know.
Willis’ family added: ‘There is currently no cure for this disease. This is a reality that we hope can change in the coming years. As Bruce’s condition progresses we hope that media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease, which requires much more awareness and research.’

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a type of dementia that affects the front parts of the brain. These parts of the brain are responsible for behavior, language and other important functions.
Unlike Alzheimer’s disease, which primarily affects memory, FTD often causes changes in personality, behavior, and language.

Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Willis, ex-wife Demi Moore and three adult daughters Romer Willis, Scout Willis and Tallulah Willis said in a statement posted on social media that Willis was diagnosed with aphasia in March 2022, after which the family revealed that he will no longer work in films. Aphasia is a disease in which a person cannot remember simple words or communicate with others.
Following his diagnosis, Willis’ family said that this is a truly difficult time for the family and that he greatly appreciates the continued love, compassion and support of people.
The Willis family said: ‘We are getting through this as a strong family unit and want to let Willis’ fans know how much she means to you and you to her. As Bruce always said, life is about living and together we intend to do just that.’
