Høiby’s defender: No position has been taken on the charge

Over three weeks after he was charged by the police with violence, threats and damage to a woman at Frogner in Oslo, Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s 27-year-old son met for questioning with the police on Tuesday evening.

Høiby’s defender, lawyer Øivind Bratlien, has been very unavailable for comment, but on his way into the Oslo district court on Wednesday morning in connection with another case, he gave some comments about the case to the press at the scene.

– He has not made a decision on anything yet, the lawyer answers questions from The daily newspaper whether Høiby has decided on the charge of threats.

He says that no decision has been taken on when the next questioning of Høiby will take place.

– It is not planned yet – we have to see when people have time, the lawyer replies.

Høiby has admitted in a statement to the press that he committed violence while under the influence of cocaine on the evening in question. When the admission came, Høiby was charged with bodily harm and damage. Last week, the charge was extended to also cover threats.

The police have also launched an investigation into two cases of possible abuse in close relationships against two ex-girlfriends of Høiby, Nora Haukland and Juliane Snekkestad. However, no charges have been brought in these cases.
