Tonight Warner Bros. and Avalanche Studios unveiled the first gameplay of Hogwarts Legacy, and it lit up something that fans of games in the Harry Potter universe do not usually expect to see – the ability to use the Avada Kedavra spell.
For those not in the know, Avada Kedavra is also known as one of the unforgivable spells. It has no counterspell and instantly kills the target. This spell was Voldemort’s calling card. Only Harry Potter managed to survive the death spell, and several times – but there are logical explanations for this.
In Hogwarts Legacy gameplay, we saw the player character use the Avada Kedavra once morest an unknown enemy. If the enemy did not have time to jump back or conjure a physical barrier, then he died. Given that the book series has a certain tone, in most games in the universe, players have taken on enemies in other ways, but the inclusion of Avada Kedavra means that Hogwarts Legacy will not smooth out the “dark” corners of the magical world.
