Warner Bros. Games et Avalanche Software published a commented gameplay video of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy longer than 30 minutes.
This video provides insight into the open world outside of Hogwarts castle via broomstick flight, a deeper look at combat in the Dark Mage battle arena, and the possible customization of the Room of Requirement.
In the first part of the gameplay, we can discover a Hogwarts student in the late 1800s, riding his broomstick and flying low over the Scottish Highlands. He then explores a hamlet which offers the opportunity to meet different witches and wizards while participating in quests. The player then rides an Onyx Hippogriff (a hippogriff variant exclusive to pre-orders) and traverses the various landscapes that make up these lands.
In a deeper dive into combat, the player, wearing the Dark Mage cosmetic set, passes through the Forbidden Forest before riding a Thestral to the Dark Mage battle arena. The Dark Mage Cosmetic Set, Thestral Mount, and Dark Mage Battle Arena are available exclusively in the Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy or for in-game purchase in the pack Black magic. The player casts an Avada Kedavra spell and thus shows that the enemy’s health bar instantly drops to zero. Tools such as potions and plants from the Room of Requirement can be brought by the player into battle to help defeat enemies more effectively.
At the end of the video, the player visits the Room of Requirement. The entire space can be customized and the architecture can be changed as the player summons items. Recipes for these summons can be found at Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade or given as rewards for completing various activities throughout the game. Utility items like Botany Tables and Potion Tables can also be customized . During the game, the player will be able to summon the loom which can be used to customize and add magical properties to their equipment. And finally, the player goes to the Vivarium where the creatures are cured. A Graphorn, Niffler, Fléreur and Mooncalf are shown there. By petting and feeding them, the player will gain their trust and they can give him magical ingredients needed to customize and improve his equipment. A toy box is also available to play with creatures that may have their own name.
Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy is expected on February 10, 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, et PC. Versions PlayStation 4 et Xbox One are expected for April 4, 2023 while the version Nintendo Switch is scheduled for July 25, 2023.
