TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has presented a successor for sports director Alexander Rosen, who was fired in the summer: preferred candidate Andreas Schicker is moving from Austrian double winner Sturm Graz to Sinsheim. The deal had already become apparent in the last few days, and Schicker himself had also confirmed discussions with TSG.

According to information from “Sky”, the Kraichgauers are transferring a transfer fee of just over one million euros to Sturm Graz. Frank Kramer, head of youth development, was temporarily in charge at TSG and was also responsible for the transfer phase. Schicker had continuously shaped Sturm into a top club within four years and this year celebrated the first Austrian championship since 2011, which entitled them to participate in the premier class. He started at the club in 2018 as chief scout before being promoted to managing director of sports in 2020.

“Andreas Schicker was the absolute dream solution. It stands for exceptional quality work and therefore success. The conversations with him were characterized by a high level of professionalism and trust. Throughout the entire negotiations, he always gave us the feeling that we really wanted to move to TSG,” explained Jörg Albrecht, first chairman of the eV and majority shareholder of Fußball-GmbH. In the future, Schicker will work together with Dr. Markus Schütz (Chairman) and Frank Briel, who returns to TSG Hoffenheim as Managing Director of Finance, form the club’s management.

“The German Bundesliga has always been a goal for me that I have worked towards. I have never made a secret of it. It’s even nicer that my move to TSG worked out. Hoffenheim is an exciting club with a lot of potential and youth work that has been outstanding for years. I can absolutely identify with TSG’s special path, which, among other things, provides strong access to the professional field. “I’m now really looking forward to getting to know the team, the coaching team, the staff and all the other employees of the club,” said Schicker.

As the TSG also announced, Schicker will now be supported by Kramer, who will take on the position of Director of Sport and act as a link between the TSG academy and the Hoffenheim professionals in the future.
