MONTREAL – The Premier Hockey Federation’s Montreal expansion team has announced the hiring of forward Catherine Dubois, defensemen Catherine Daoust and Christine Deaudelin, and goaltender Tricia Deguire for its inaugural season in 2022-23.
The Montreal squad now has 11 players. The group unveiled Thursday joins attackers Ann-Sophie Bettez, Kim Deschênes, Jade Downie-Landry, Alexandra Labelle, Sarah Lefort and Kristina Shanahan, as well as defender Brigitte Laganière.
“This group provides our roster with youngsters and veterans who will bring the right mix of energy and reliability to help us achieve our goals as a team and represent the province of Quebec in the right way,” said the team president Kevin Raphaël, in a press release. I believe these players will open a lot of eyes in the world of professional women’s hockey, and I can’t wait for everyone to see what they are capable of as they take the PHF by storm. »
Daoust has played professional women’s hockey for the past four years, the last three of which as a member of the PWHPA in Montreal. She also teamed with Bettez, Deschênes and Lefort with the CWHL’s Montreal Canadiens during the 2018-19 season, recording five points in 27 games.
Dubois has also been a member of the PWHPA for the past two seasons, while Deaudelin and Deguire will make the leap to pro following completing careers in Canadian university sport.
The four players have chosen not to disclose the salary conditions of their contracts.
More hires are expected in the coming weeks, along with the unveiling of the team’s official name and logo. PHF’s 2022-23 regular season schedule has yet to be released.
