Hockey: Productive evening for Mailloux and Mesar in the Ontario Hockey League

Logan Mailloux scored at least one point in a fourth straight game in the London Knights’ 3-0 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday night.

Mailloux scored his 12e goal of the season thanks to a powerful shot from the wrists during a numerical superiority. The winning goal earned Mailloux the first star of the game.

Mailloux has six points in his last four games.

Goaltender Zach Bowen made 26 saves to earn the shutout.

Ryan Humphrey scored twice in an empty net late in the game.

Two points for Filip Mesar

Filip Mesar had two assists, but four unanswered Flint Firebirds goals beat the Kitchener Rangers, who lost 5-4.

However, the evening was not easy for Mesar, who finished the game with a differential of minus 4.

Gavin Hayes scored twice in Flint’s win.

The day before, Mesar had been shut out in his first game since returning from the World Junior Championship.

He had previously collected two points in each of his previous four games.
