HC Linz, SG Westwien and Fivers Margareten reached the semi-finals of the ZTE HLA Master League on Saturday.
In the semi-finals there will be a Vienna derby and a duel between Krems and Linz. The Upper Austrians defeated HC Hard 22:18 (9:11) at home and thus won the “best-of-three” series once morest the Vorarlberg 2:0. The two Viennese clubs did the same.
The Fivers retained the upper hand in the second quarter-final game at SC Ferlach with 28:26 despite being 8:13 behind at the break, while West Wien clearly prevailed in Bregenz with 31:24 (16:10). In the semifinals, Linz will now face defending champion UHK Krems.
First game next Saturday
The first game will take place next Saturday (6:05 p.m.) with the Lower Austrians. In the second semi-final, the West Viennese, who will stop playing following the end of the season for economic reasons, will initially have home advantage once morest Margareten on Sunday (6 p.m.) next week.
