HIV: invisible women (interview with Eva Vocz of Act Up-Paris)

For the traditional demonstration of December 1st, ACT UP PARIS has chosen this year as its motto “Women and HIV: 54%”. Indeed, 54% of people living with HIV are women and ACT UP notes that women are made invisible in the epidemic while they are also struggling and need to have access to care, to be targeted in prevention, in studies, research etc… For example, all the studies on PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) are designed by cisgender men for cisgender men.

The Anticapitalist spoke with Eva Vocz, Sex Work Advocacy Officer for Act Up. It summarizes the challenges of the fight once morest HIV-AIDS, particularly among people who define themselves as sex workers, who are still marginalized populations in France and who therefore suffer from problems of access to care, in particular screening.
