Hittech Group is entering into a joint venture with the British AM service provider 3T Additive Manufacturing. The two companies want to produce ready-to-assembly AM parts with laser powder bed printing technology in an independent company.
Now that demand for 3D printed parts is starting to pick up and 3T wants a hub on the European mainland, the two companies have decided to set up a joint venture. “3T wants to be closer to its customers. And we think we can optimize the AM chain by bundling both 3D printing and post-processing in one place,” says Marco Verloop, COO of Hittech Group regarding the reason for starting a joint venture.
Bundling competencies
The British Additive Manufacturing service company is now part of the Italian Beam-IT. 3T-AM prints the components that Hittech produces serially for customers’ high-tech modules. Post-processing takes place both at 3T-AM and at the Hittech branch in Winterswijk. “By bringing together the knowledge of design, 3D printing and post-processing in one place, we think we can develop AM components faster. In addition, we will expand to markets other than semicon,” says Marco Verloop.
The new location will probably be located in the Stuttgart region (D) or in the Netherlands. The companies do not want to make a decision on this until 2024. Marco Verloop: “We will use 2024 to further develop the business; we will start building in 2025.”
