History of Trujillo radio and television broadcasting. Second Peña Peña / By Pedro Frailán

One of the great inventions of the 20th century is the transistor, considered the third industrial revolution. This invention transformed the lives of citizens with communication, and the radio took care of it. At this time there is another great invention such as the chip capsule and the radio remains among the top five places with the greatest roots in society, considering it part of it. Segundo Peña Peña, our great chronicler, has given another book to Trujillo society and culture for the state’s bibliography as part of its historical heritage.

History of radio and television broadcasting in Trujillo, It was an unpublished research that did not exist in the catalog of Trujillo books. For more than eighty years, radio has had a presence in the region, Radio Valera being the pioneer, in addition to being a station it was a school for rebroadcasting.

In it, great characters were formed who were an icon for a long time in Trujillo, their programs, the indulgences, the raffle of the animal lottery, El Informador 1230, their cell phones traveled through the neighborhoods, urbanizations and adjacent places.

Shortly after, Don Pedro J. Torres took on a challenge in the modest capital city, to found the musical sultana of the Venezuelan Andes, at the same moment he was born he made a duet with a classic Venezuelan waltz: Conticinio. Radio Trujillo 1280, the station on Calle Arriba, in the little square El Carmen, another school and the family of everyone in the Chiquinquirá parish.

Then came Radio Turismo, another symbol with its yellow bird and the 970, with its radio reporting every noon. Then Radio Betijoque, Radio Andina, which was part of the Vision circuit. Radio Boconó, Sympathy, and Primera as amplitude modulated (AM) stations.

Then the era of frequency modulation (FM) would arrive, the technological advance in communication and with it globalization, this includes Superior, Globo, Trujillo FM, Ángel and what to say about Radio Tiempo 91.5 FM, a space about which I share in the Cuarto Poder program, doing political analysis on a daily basis.

FM also arrived in Boconó, immediately following the rise of community radio, which is currently spread throughout Trujillo and in this growth is expanding towards internet radio. Trujillo already has several, but the one who specifies it most accurately is Segundo Peña Peña in this publication that we invite you to read.
