Heba Sadiha, a native of Palestine, has been selected as a referee for this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. Heba Sadih is the first Palestinian woman to referee a World Cup.

34-year-old Heba Saadih has also been included in the list of referees for the ninth edition of the Women’s World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from Thursday to August 20.

Born to Palestinian parents, Sadih completed his sports education at a university in Damascus, Syria. He then moved to Malaysia in 2012 when the Syrian war broke out. Refereeing starts from there.

Later, in 2016, he moved to Sweden as part of the United Nations Resettlement Program. Sadih is currently a well-known referee in Sweden’s women’s league.

Sadih has refereed several AFC Cup games, FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers and 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers. Saadih has also refereed the Maurice Revelo Men’s Under-21 tournament in France in early 2022.
