ALGIERS – Members of the National People’s Assembly (APN) highlighted, Tuesday in Algiers, the historic level of expenditure planned in the finance bill (PLF 2025) consecrating the attachment of the State to its character social.
During a plenary devoted to the PLF 2025 debate, chaired by Barbara El Hadj Cheikh, vice-president of the APN, in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid and the Minister of Relations with Parliament, Basma Azouar, the deputies stressed that this bill provides for measures aimed at continuing price subsidies with a view to improving the purchasing power of citizens, taking care of vulnerable categories of society, increasing unemployment benefit and to intensify efforts to create more jobs.
In this regard, MP Aicha Benturki (Front El Moustakbal) affirmed that the project reaffirmed the principle of the social state, in particular through the significant financial allocations for social transfers, the revaluation of salaries and the construction of housing. .
She also called for continued efforts to respond to citizens’ concerns, particularly with regard to the definitive eradication of precarious housing across the country and the programming of more projects capable of ensuring the availability of means of transport in the different wilayas.
For his part, MP Chaabane Merah (same political party) welcomed the measures taken in the bill to increase purchasing power and improve the living environment of citizens thanks to price subsidies for basic necessities and the care of vulnerable categories, alongside job creation efforts in various areas.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the continuation of housing construction programs, all formats combined, calling for them to be accompanied by the necessary public facilities, particularly in the Education sector.
The MP also stressed the need to continue efforts to diversify financial resources in order to meet the needs of programs planned for the future.
MP Chouachi Aicha (Independents), for her part, considered that the PLF had largely met the financial needs necessary for the implementation of the various programs planned in various areas, while providing positive indicators, particularly with regard to the increase in foreign exchange reserves and the rate of economic growth.
She also insisted on the imperative of finding solutions to a number of concerns raised by citizens, including the automobile issue, and the revision of transport plans.
For his part, MP Boumediene Hanba (RND), welcomed the content of the PLF 2025, developed according to a social approach, aiming to build a powerful economy based on solid foundations.
The deputy Omar Messaoudi of the same party, underlined the importance of the enormous budget mobilized within the framework of this PLF, through which the State tends to take charge of development programs, and to improve the living environment, following a multidimensional approach covering various sectors.
MP Amar Dherra (MSP), indicated that the significant financial envelopes would positively influence the lives of citizens, and will help alleviate socio-economic pressures, thereby calling for an accelerated pace of digitalization in all areas.
