On Monday, February 21, at 7.30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Korbinian School, the Freising Historical Society is offering a lecture on the subject of “Orlando di Lasso and the most beautiful musical manuscript in the world”. Munich musicologist Bernhold Schmid presents the 16th-century music collection known as the Mielich Codex, which contains Orlando di Lasso’s setting of the Penitential Psalms and illustrations by court painter Hans Mielich. The composer Orlando di Lasso was court music director in Munich and maintained close relationships with the episcopal court of Freising and the Weihenstephan monastery. The Mielich Codex is considered the most beautiful musical manuscript in the world. The event will take place in compliance with the current Corona rules.
