Kyriakos Mitsotakis is making a two-day visit to Canada from Sunday (24/3) in the first visit by a Greek prime minister since 1983. He will have a meeting with his counterpart Justin Trudeau and contacts with the Greek diaspora, to promote the institution of postal voting.
According to the report, the following issues will dominate the meeting with Trudeau:
Strengthening of bilateral relations.
Emphasis on commercial / financial cooperation.
International challenges.
Highlighting historical links.
The Greek diaspora, estimated at 350,000 people, will be at the center of the Prime Minister’s visit. At the forefront will be the historical, as it is characterized, right to vote by letter in the European elections. Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to issue a new call to Greek Canadians who have the right to vote to register on the relevant platform with the aim of expanding participation in the June 9 European elections.
Also, an important part of the prime minister’s visit to Montreal will be the signing of the agreement for the supply of seven Canadairs to Greece. The agreement foresees the purchase of five aircraft for the needs of the Fire Service and two more, through the civil protection mechanism of the European Union. The total cost of the agreement reaches 360 million euros.
The presence of Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Canada will have a substantial economic and investment dimension. In two twenty-four hours from now, the Prime Minister will be a keynote speaker to an audience of businessmen at the Economic Club of Canada in Toronto. At the same time, he will have meetings with investors, representing banks, real estate companies and Logistic centers. The agenda of the discussions will be dominated by:

The investment opportunities presented by Greece, following the return to investment grade.
The stable political and economic environment.
