Historic step towards formalization: quarry exploitation permit granted to caleros de Concepción

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications, through the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy, delivered the first quarry exploitation permits to the lime producers associations of Vallemí, in the department of Concepción, marking a milestone in the formalization of the mining sector in Paraguay .

The delivery ceremony was held with the support of the Municipality of San Lázaro, demonstrating a joint effort between the central and local governments to promote the sustainable development of the mining industry in the region.

The Vice Minister of Mines and Energy, Mauricio Bejarano, highlighted the importance of this measure by highlighting that it is the first time in history that caleros, the people who work in limestone and dolomite mining, have been formalized. These associations received permission to not only work for a particular supplier, but also have the possibility of formalizing their activity, he noted.

New opportunities

Bejarano expressed that this is an important step that opens new opportunities for these lime producers, a humble sector that now has the possibility of selling their raw materials to various buyers, participating in public tenders and accessing better exploitation techniques.

He also stated that this is just the beginning of a broader process of formalization that will continue with education, since we intend to educate for better mining exploitation. We would be facing an evolution of the lime mining sector in that area and in the country, added Vice Minister Bejarano.
