The four big clubs in Saudi Arabia (Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahly) entered a new historical era yesterday, Sunday, with the announcement of two of the largest Saudi companies affiliated with the Saudi Public Investment Fund, signing sponsorship contracts with them, in a deal that is the largest in the history of Saudi sports.
The club sponsorship contract amounts to two billion per club at a rate of (100 million riyals annually) over a period of 20 years, starting from the current year 2022 until 2042, with the possibility of reviewing the terms of the partnership agreement every 5 years.
But how much were the sponsorship contracts for Saudi clubs before that?
The largest contract previously signed with the Saudi Al Hilal Club is with a real estate company, with a contract that extends for 5 seasons, amounting to 65 million riyals annually.
As for the Saudi Al-Nasr Club, it was the largest sponsorship contract it had with an airline, with a contract extending for 4 years, with a value of up to 200 million, including the entire contract (50 million per year).
As for the Al-Ittihad Club, the successive administrations had recently signed contracts that were not long-term, the largest and most important of which was with an e-commerce company, where the value of the contract reached 55 million.
In the Saudi Al-Ahly Club, the value of his contract with an airline, according to several sources, is regarding 56 million riyals annually.
With the new partnership, sponsorship contracts for each of the four clubs will be increased to 100 million Saudi riyals, in addition to the long period that will extend for 20 years, which represents a major leap in the clubs’ resources.
