Jordan’s heir couple is expecting their first child

Crown Prince Hussein is preparing to pass the important milestone of thirty next June. But that’s not the only big event he’ll be celebrating this year. This April 10, 2024, the Hashemite Royal Court announced in a communiqué the upcoming arrival of a new member of the royal family of Jordan. Princess Rajwa, wife of the heir to the throne, is pregnant.

On June 1, 2023, Crown Prince Hussein, eldest son of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan, married with great fanfare the Saudi Rajwa Khaled Al Saif. Kings and queens from around the world attended the religious wedding at Zahran Palace in Amman, then continued the celebration at Al Husseiniya Palace. For the ceremony, the bride, whose face we barely knew since the announcement of her engagement, wore a dress by Reem Acra. At the evening banquet, she wore a Dolce & Gabbana dress.

The court did not give a specific date for the birth, only indicating that the baby was expected “for the summer of this year”. Since their wedding in June 2023, Princess Rajwa has been rather discreet. She accompanied her husband on an official engagement in Singapore, before attending the wedding festivities of Prince Mateen of Brunei last January. She also attended an official engagement in Jordan for the very first time last February, to mark the launch of her father-in-law’s silver jubilee festivities. The latest news reaching us from Rajwa was not very happy, since she recently lost her father.

King Abdullah II and Queen Rania are the parents of four children: Crown Prince Hussein (1994), Princess Iman (1996), Princess Salma (2000) and Prince Hashem (2005). A few weeks before the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein, it was his sister, Princess Iman, who married Venezuelan Jameel Alexander Thermiotis. The other children are not married. Crown Prince Hussein will therefore be the first child of the royal couple to welcome their own child.
