Asunción, IP Agency.- In a historic milestone for human rights and social justice, representatives of various institutions of the Paraguayan State are carrying out a visit to Chaco to comply with the rulings of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) in favor of four indigenous communities. of the Paraguayan Chaco.
Heading this inter-institutional delegation of 27 entities and organizations is the general director of strategic communication of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC), César Palacios, designated as focal point by this ministry.
Paraguay TV will broadcast live the activities of this working group that will take place on May 9 and 10, 2024, in which various crucial issues for these communities will be addressed, such as land restitution, supervision of basic assistance (food , health, education, among others), the inspection of works on access roads and the supervision of the implementation of the Community Development Funds by the indigenous people.
The vice presidency of the Republic, through the general directorate of human rights, is collaborating closely with the MITIC to guarantee compliance with the international commitments of the Paraguayan State in relation to sentences and other processes opened in favor of indigenous communities before the Inter-American Human Rights System.
The presidency of the Consultative Advisory Council of the Interinstitutional Commission for Compliance with International Judgments (CICSI), exercised by Vice President Pedro Aliana, has specifically requested the accompaniment of the MITIC in this interinstitutional visit to the territorial seat of the Yakyte Xa indigenous communities, Sawhoyamaxa , Xákmok Kásek and Kelyenmagategma.
The program of activities includes meetings, dialogues and tours of the territorial settlements of these communities, including the inspection of the institutional efforts carried out in favor of their development and well-being.
All of these actions will be carried out in the department of Presidente Hayes, approximately at kilometer 350 of the Concepción – Pozo Colorado route, where State authorities will work tirelessly to guarantee full respect for the rights and dignity of these indigenous communities.
The commitment of the Paraguayan State is in relation to ancestral lands and the provision of assistance necessary for the subsistence of these communities is undeniable. In this sense, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSP and BS), the Ministry of Social Development (MDS), the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN), the INDI and SENASA are involved in the implementation of concrete actions, including the construction of homes in three communities and the continuous supervision of other ongoing efforts.
