Hispanic Boy Shot While Preparing for Bed – NBC New England

A Hispanic boy is out of danger after being shot while getting ready for bed in an apartment in Mattapan, Boston.

The child’s family now doubts whether to return to the apartment, since they are afraid of the great insecurity in the area and cannot forget the nightmare they experienced when they saw the wounded child.

“Difficult times, he just told me, don’t let me die, Altagracia, he won’t let me die,” said Altagracia, the boy’s stepmother, identified as Luis, as she recalls the event.

Several bullets impacted the walls of Mattapan’s apartment, Sunday after 8:00 p.m., and one of them hit the 12-year-old boy’s leg.

“The shooting started and, at once, he yelled: my leg, my leg. And holding on, he threw himself there because he couldn’t walk, ”he recounted. “Look how he (the bullet) got in. So that bullet hit right back here and there’s the hole.”

In the room lay wounded Luis, 12 years old. His father, who was watching television, tried to drag himself to help him.

“My husband once grabbed her leg to cover up the blood until I could get a towel and put it on her little leg,” she said.

Luis has already been discharged and is recovering with his family, who are out of Boston for the next few days.
