His will was a surprise. Pele admits “a secret he has denied throughout his life.”

Sister Andre, who since April 2022 has been the dean of humanity, died in her sleep on Monday night at the nursing home where she resides in Toulon, southern France, a spokesman told AFP on Tuesday evening.

“She passed away at two o’clock in the morning (Tuesday). There is great sadness, but she wanted to die. She wanted to meet her beloved brother once more,” said David Tavella, media officer at the St. Catherine Laboure nursing home, where she was staying.

There is no official body that issues certificates proving that a person is the dean of human age, but experts were unanimous that Sister Andre was the oldest person in the world whose age might be verified in civil records.

The Guinness Book of Records confirmed this on April 25, following the death of the Japanese, Kane Tanaka, at the age of 119.

Sister Andrei had confirmed in recent years that she was bored with life. “God does not listen to me,” she told AFP, who met her at length in January 2022.

Sister Andrei had become crippled and lost her sight. Lucille Randon was born on February 11, 1904 in Alice, in southern France. She lamented the loss of some of her physical abilities.

And she recounted in April 2022, when the Dean of Humanity announced, following she held this title at the French and European levels: “It is said that work kills, but for me, work made me continue. I worked until the age of one hundred and eight.”
