A woman in Loveland, Colorado, USA, recently announced that her son had contracted “Covid psychosis”, following he suffered from the emerging corona virus.
And she said that her son suddenly changed weeks following he contracted Covid-19, according to what she was quoted by the “CBS” network.
She explained that her son had recently finished studying engineering. She continued, “It has become strange behaviors from him. His mental state was evaluated, as doctors indicated that he had Covid psychosis.”
According to a psychiatrist at the University of Colorado, Teda Thant, the study of the son’s situation in the mental health clinic for those who were infected with Covid-19, has proven the possibility of the Corona virus causing serious infections in the body and brain. Thant explained that “the body’s immune system may play a role in the development of symptoms of psychosis.”
And she continued, “Dillusions and hallucinations in people following infection with Covid-19, are part of this psychosis. People with Covid psychosis feel that they are being pursued, and can exaggerate their self-esteem like those with paranoia.”
One of the things that the woman’s son with Covid psychosis thinks is that he is being watched by law enforcement, and that the neighbors are trying to arrange a problem for him.
According to Thant, the treatment of Covid psychosis through medication is possible provided the patient deals with the doctor, and first acknowledges that there is a problem.
