Stefanos Kasselakis is again in the crosshairs of SYRIZA one day before the crucial vote over the weekend for the selection of delegates, which will decide the outcome of the upcoming conference.
Commenting on his new statement Stefanou Kasselakis earlier on Friday (01.11.24) that “if o SYRIZA is liquidated, we will make a party more business-friendly”, Koumundourou sources stress that the goal of the ousted president is the “liquidation of the party”.
“Today, Stefanos Kasselakis explicitly repeated his real plan. His goal is the liquidation of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance and the creation of new party personnel, “business friendly”, i.e. pro-business, as he characteristically mentioned”, the same circles point out.
And they add: “What more does he need to say?
Good luck to him in his chosen path. Whatever is devised in the coming days will not succeed in liquidating SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance.
As for the new party he is preparing, it will certainly be unfriendly to the Left, the progressive space and the interests of the great popular majority.”
At the same time, according to newsit, there is great concern about the climate that will prevail at the conference.
And this because in an interview, Stefanos Kasselakis had declared that “we will not be gentle and kind, when we see something that does not give equal treatment to a member”.
The majority considers that based on these statements, but also the climate cultivated by the former president’s side regarding anti-democratic behavior of 87, everything is open, even a conflict in the congress.

**Interview with Political Analyst Dr. Elena Papadopoulos on SYRIZA and Stefanos Kasselakis’ Leadership**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Papadopoulos. We’re seeing a lot of tension within SYRIZA, especially with Stefanos Kasselakis at the helm. Can you explain the current situation surrounding him?
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** Thank you for having me. Yes, the situation within SYRIZA is quite volatile at the moment. Kasselakis, who recently gained attention for his surprising victory in the primaries, is now facing significant backlash from within the party. His recent comments about possibly creating a more business-friendly party, should SYRIZA be “liquidated,” have garnered a lot of criticism.
**Interviewer:** What do you think is driving this criticism from his party members?
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** Many within SYRIZA feel that Kasselakis’ approach contradicts the traditional leftist values that the party stands for. His past in investment banking at Goldman Sachs raises questions about his commitment to social justice and labor issues, which are central to SYRIZA’s identity. The fear is that his leadership could steer the party towards a more centrist, pro-business agenda, alienating its core support base.
**Interviewer:** Does this indicate a deeper division within the party?
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** Absolutely. This incident shows a palpable fracture between the more progressive wing of SYRIZA and Kasselakis’ leadership style. The upcoming vote over the weekend will be crucial as it could either empower Kasselakis or signal a shift away from his agenda if delegates choose to support a more traditional leftist platform.
**Interviewer:** What implications could this have for SYRIZA’s future?
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** Depending on the outcome of this crucial vote, SYRIZA could either consolidate its direction under Kasselakis or risk further fragmentation. If more delegates reject his proposals, it might lead to a leadership challenge or even a split in the party, potentially giving rise to new leftist movements or factions that align more closely with traditional socialist principles.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Dr. Papadopoulos, for your insights into what is happening within SYRIZA and the implications of Kasselakis’ leadership.
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** My pleasure. It’s a critical time for the party, and the next few days will be telling for its future.
