Everything has its revenge, this is a phrase that Joseph Yerimid Rosales Erazo has welcomed as its own by breaking down what has been its football life since being a scorer in the MPoland Under-20 World Cup and an important player in the Mexico Pre-Olympic tournament to reach the MLS and debut in the Honduran senior team.
Rosales’s phone rang and he very kindly answered Diary Ten from his apartment in Saint Paul, United States, to answer each of the questions that were addressed.
The midfielder of Minnesota United He analyzed his first two seasons with the team and told us that his loan is regarding to end, but that his goal is to close the purchase option, which is on the right track.
In the extensive interview, the man from the capital spoke of the good relationship he has with Kervin Arriaga, what they usually do to keep catracho folklore alive and did not miss the opportunity to confess what Hernán Bolillo Gómez recommended to him prior to his dismissal.
-THE INTERVIEW-
The MLS is a very different football from Central America. How have you been connecting?
I have adapted in a great way because there are many Latino colleagues and that has helped me to catch up.
How have you felt in Minnesota?
Glad to be here. I have taken Minnesota as my home, the confidence of my teammates, of the coach who has made me feel very good. I’m used to all the factors, the weather has been the most difficult.
There are already two seasons with the team. What has this left you?
Correct. It’s been two seasons now and I think this one has been very good despite the fact that it’s just starting, I’ve had more minutes and confidence from the coach. Last year I was dragging an injury and that did not let me reach my best version, but this year it has been the opposite.
How would you summarize your participation since your arrival?
Since my arrival at the team I have contributed my grain of sand, it is what one always tries to do in games. The coach is aware of my participation and that is why he has taken me into account, he has confidence in what I can do and I have even held positions that are not my natural ones.
You were one of the figures in the team’s last game with two assists. Did we see that you received many compliments?
It motivates me to have played a great game for the United States Cup. I came to work at Minnesota United and when I get the opportunity to play I will always give my best. I consider this game to be one of the two best games I’ve had since I came to the United States.
What does your coach, Adrián Heath, tell you? We know of the vast experience he had as a player.
If I’m here it’s because the coach knows what I can contribute to the club. I’m young, but I know I have to keep growing. He tells me to keep working and that opportunities come to people who know how to wait.
Your loan is regarding to end, however, it is known that Minnesota is interested in getting your file. How is that situation going?
Yes, my loan is regarding to end, it ends this year. There is a purchase option, and of course, I have seen different information that talks regarding this, but I continue to work hard because I want to stay in the team, I want to continue growing as a footballer here.
We haven’t talked regarding the signing yet, I’m focused on making good games and at the end of the season they can take over my services. For now, it’s time to keep waiting.
His camaraderie with Kervin Arriaga
In social networks it is seen that you have a great relationship with Kervin Arriaga. Do they spend a lot of time?
I got on very well with Kervin, we’ve known each other since the U-23s. We are good friends and we go out a lot and support each other because we are the only ones who have each other here, there are no relatives or anything so we have to be united in that aspect.
We live in the same building, when he arrived he was looking to settle in and I suggested that here was a good place to live. We share a lot, in fact, sometimes we go to places where there are Honduran things like food, music and we agree on a weekend and go.
How do you think he is doing, has he had important participations?
The games speak for themselves, Kervin has done a great job, every game he has played has shown the quality of players he is. He is here for a reason.
When his arrival at the Minnesota United was announced, there was talk that both would have to fight for a position because of the position they hold, but they have even had the opportunity to play together.
People always say those things, however, we know each other, we are workers how to say, we like to work and the one who decides in the end is the coach. We already went out to play a game together and I think we did very well. we know how to understand
You played a U-20 World Cup, then the pre-Olympics and then with the senior team. What lessons have you learned from these experiences?
I had my first World Cup in Poland and at that moment it was a bitter pill because everyone already knows the story of what happened on that occasion, but as they say ‘everything has its revenge’. Then came the Olympic Qualifiers where I was able to play good games and put myself on the radar of the senior team.
How much has Joseph Rosales evolved from those Pre-Olympic games until now that you play in the MLS?
The weather are different. I think that from Joseph who played those games in Mexico to now there is a big difference, I am more mature and I have learned things that I did not know before.
How did you live this last call where your debut in the senior team took place?
It left me with bitter feelings because you want the team to do well, but things happen for a reason. Personally, I was very happy to be able to debut in a senior team. Better things will come for Honduras.
Did you expect the dismissal of Bolillo Gómez?
I did not expect. One day at night he called me because he mightn’t say goodbye to me when he finished the tie and he told me to keep working because he kept me in mind and was going to keep giving me the opportunity.
A generational change is expected with a new coach and young players ahead of the next World Cup. Does this motivate you to be considerate?
I work hard in my team so that they take me into account in the national team and then the coach that I lead will make his decisions, meanwhile, I will continue doing things as I have been doing them.
