Accused of having killed her son with a knife, she “evades”: the mother of the ten-year-old child found dead in a suitcase in Seine-et-Marne was indicted on Sunday for intentional homicide and imprisoned.
During the two days in police custody following her arrest on Friday, the 33-year-old woman “did not explain the facts, which she evaded” and was “evasive” regarding her actions following the death of his son, said in a press release the prosecutor of Meaux, Laureline Peyrefitte.
Investigators from the Versailles judicial police have, however, gathered so far once morest her “serious and consistent evidence of the commission of the murder of her child”, which would have occurred on Wednesday morning, according to the prosecution.
The mother “would have then transported the child in a suitcase belonging to the parental couple, to deposit it in a rubble dumpster, before returning to clean her house and throw various objects used for cleaning in a trash can in the neighborhood”, described Ms. Peyrefitte.
Worried regarding not finding anyone at home in the evening on his way home from work, the father immediately reported the disappearance of his wife and their son on Wednesday evening to the local police station.
The little family had settled a few weeks earlier in the town of Ferrières-en-Brie, a peaceful residential town to the east of Paris, to take up residence in a new housing estate of white pavilions with the paint still fresh.
-Bloody Knife-
Alerted by the presence of bloodstains inside the house, the authorities immediately launched major search operations, in which firefighters, police, canine and river brigades participated, with the support of drones.
These investigations led, Thursday morning, to the macabre discovery of the body of the child curled up inside a suitcase on wheels, a hundred meters from the house.
The autopsy shows that he was “killed with a bladed weapon, knife type”, according to the prosecution. The boy received multiple fatal blows to the neck and chest.
Shortly following the events, the mother was seen in the RER at the end of the morning on Wednesday, which allowed the investigators to trace her track.
She was arrested the next morning at her sister’s house in Choisy-le-Roi (Val-de-Marne), regarding thirty kilometers from the scene. She had in her possession a bloody knife, which has yet to be analyzed.
The woman “has no established psychiatric history” and was not medicated, but relatives reported “sometimes inconsistent behavior” on her part, reported Laureline Peyrefitte.
Judicial information should now focus on the personality of the woman as well as the family environment to try to understand the reasons for her action. In particular, an in-depth psychiatric expertise should be conducted.
