His Majesty King Mohammed VI grants his royal pardon to 2,097 people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr

On the occasion of this year’s Eid al-Fitr, His Majesty King Mohammed VI issued his royal pardon to a group of people, including detainees and those on release, who were sentenced by the various courts of the Kingdom, numbering 2,097 people.

The following is the text of the statement issued by the Ministry of Justice in this regard:

“On the occasion of the happy Eid al-Fitr of this year, 1445 AH 2024 AD, His Majesty the King, may God bless him and grant him victory, issued his sublime and obedient order to pardon a group of people, including detainees and those in the event of release of those sentenced by the various honorable courts of the Kingdom, numbering 2,079 people. They are as follows:

The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are in detention, numbering 1,809 inmates, are as follows:

– Pardon of the remainder of the prison or prison sentence for the benefit of: 131 inmates

– Reducing the penalty of imprisonment or imprisonment for the benefit of: 1,674 inmates.

– Converting the death penalty to life imprisonment for the benefit of: 1 inmate

– Converting life imprisonment to specified prison for the benefit of: 03 inmates

The beneficiaries of the royal pardon who are on release are 270 people, distributed as follows:

– Pardon from the prison sentence or the remainder of it for the benefit of: 67 people

– Pardon from the imprisonment sentence while keeping the fine for the benefit of: 13 people

– Pardon from the fine for the benefit of 179 people – Pardon from the imprisonment sentences and the fine for the benefit of: 11 people

Total: 2079

On this happy occasion, His Majesty, may God bless him with victory and empowerment, refused except to grant his generous Mawlawi’s pardon to a group of those convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, following they officially declared their adherence to the nation’s constants and sanctities and national institutions, and following reviewing their positions and intellectual orientations, and their rejection of extremism and terrorism, numbering 18 people. This is as follows: – Pardon of the remainder of the custodial sentence for the benefit of: 10 inmates.

– Pardon of the remaining penalty of deprivation of liberty and the fine for the benefit of: 01 inmate – Reduction of the penalty of deprivation of liberty for the benefit of: 7 inmates, the total for the year 2097. May God preserve our master Al-Mansur in God as an asset and a refuge for this nation, and a source of compassion and mercy, and he restored the likes of this holiday to His Majesty with victory and empowerment and approved Appointed by the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay El Hassan, and all members of the honorable royal family. He is the Hearer and Answerer, and peace be upon him.”
