WRITER Agus Mulyadi admitted that he still could not believe that his love journey with his wife, Kalis Mardiasih, would be made into a film. After previously being made into a book entitled Sebuah Seni Mengejar Kekasih and selling quite well in the market.

It is known that the love journey between Agus and Kalis was made into a film entitled The Art of Understanding a Lover, released by the production house IDN Pictures, and will be shown on the big screen on September 5, 2024. Agus also joked that now he and his wife are on the same level as national figures BJ Habibie and Ainun Habibie.

“I’m so happy that my love story and Kalis’s can be made into a film. I feel like I’m on the same level as Mr. Habibie,” said Agus with a laugh, when met in Jakarta, Wednesday (7/8).

Even though it shows the love story of two simple people, Agus believes that there are many messages that can be learned from this love story and it is very relatable to most Indonesian people.

“What is clear is that I feel that this is a standard love story of poor people meeting poor people. And we feel that this kind of love story of poor people needs to be brought up, because we feel that it is very related to society. We sometimes need to see the love story of two poor couples who then struggle and eventually succeed,” said Agus.

Starring actor Elang El Gibran (as Agus) and actress Febby Rastanty (as Kalis), and directed by Jeihan Angga. The love story between Agus and Kalis will be wrapped in a comedy drama genre. Presenting two comedians, Yusril Fahriza and Benidictivity, this film is sure to be full of laughter.

Even though it presents a story about the journey of two young couples and is in the comedy drama genre, this does not mean that the film is only about comedy and love stories, but also raises issues related to women’s rights there.

“I think the message of this film is that you can be poor but don’t be afraid to fall in love,” Agus said. (Rif/M-4)
