The great Egyptian artist Samir Sabry passed away, Friday, May 20, 2022, at the age of 86, following a struggle with illness, coinciding with the first anniversary of the departure of the Egyptian comedian Samir Ghanem.

The funeral of the late artist Samir Sabry witnessed the presence of a large number of art stars and celebrities who were keen to accompany the body from the hospital to the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed for the funeral prayer, following which the body was transferred to Alexandria for burial in the family graves.

On Monday evening, the funeral of the late Egyptian artist Samir Sabry was held at the Police Mosque in the Sheikh Zayed neighborhood in Cairo, in the presence of a large number of artists.

Director Mohamed Turki, director of the “My memories” program, which is broadcast on the Egyptian radio and which was presented by the great artist Samir Sabry, revealed the late star’s last will.

Turki said: “I recommended that I wash him myself, and that he be buried in his family’s tombs in Alexandria Governorate,” noting that he gave him, before his departure, the number of the cemetery official to communicate with him in the event of death and the preparation of the cemetery, according to the Masrawy website.

Art critic Amr Sahsah said that Samir Sabry was aware recently that his death had become close, and that it was inevitably coming, especially following the treating doctor informed him that his heart was very tired, and that he was subject to stopping at any time, so he was afraid to sit in his house in the engineers alone for fear that He goes without anyone noticing him.

He added that the late decided to stay in one of the major hotels in the Zamalek area, and hosted his friend Mustafa Abdel Salam, and gave him an amount of 100,000 pounds, the costs of the ambulance that would transport him from the hotel to the hospital in the event of his death, in addition to the expenses of his funeral and condolences.

He confirmed that Sabri died in his room in his hotel residence, in which he found an amount of 30,000 pounds, a “Rolex” watch, and a gold chain, and they were kept until the real heirs were obtained to hand over his belongings, and they are Laila, his cousin and her siblings.

The artist Samir Sabry was born on December 27, 1936 in Alexandria, graduated from Victoria College, and began his life working as a broadcaster on the English radio, then turned to acting and singing.

His parents separated when he was 9 years old to start a new stage of his life in Cairo, where he moved with his father to live in the Stars Building and was adopted by Abdel Halim Hafez following a lie he mastered, and presented him to the artist Lubna Abdel Aziz, to become at the age of 10 years the star of the European program and has many films.

Samir Sabry began his journey in the field of acting since the beginning of his artistic career in the sixties and seventies of the last century, and represented many of his films with the artist Adel Imam, such as the movie “Search for a Scandal” starring Mervat Amin,

Among his series, “Hadrat Al Muthham Abi Abi”, as well as “The Case of Public Opinion”, starring Yousra, Liqa Al-Khamisi, and Valentino with leader Adel Imam.

During his artistic career, he presented more than 130 films, including a lamp of grimace, the warm embrace, the search for a scandal, the journey of days, the parents’ charity, the berries and the prophets, the hell under water, the delicious murder, and the underground hell, the last of which happened in 2 Talaat Harb.

He also produced a number of films, including Welcome Captain, Salkhana, The Poisoned Family’s House, Her Majesty’s Tears and Death Alarm.
