The Public Prosecution launched investigations when Hodhoud was arrested and tried to interrogate him regarding the accusation of attempted theft, but it was not possible to interrogate him for uttering incomprehensible words, and questioned his mental health.

The Public Prosecution placed the accused in the Department of Forensic Psychiatry at the National Council for Mental Health in Cairo at the Mental Health Hospital in Abbasiya; To prepare a mental medical report on his condition, and the extent of his responsibility for his actions at the time of the incident, but he later died in hospital as a result of a sharp drop in blood circulation.

Following the last decision, the Public Prosecution heard the statements of two members of the tripartite committee formed according to the Public Prosecution’s decision to prepare a report examining his psychological and mental state.
