Hussein Riad was born in the Sayeda Zeinab neighborhood on January 13, 1897, to an Egyptian father and a Syrian mother. His brother is the artist Fouad Shafiq. He started his hobby in acting during his high school studies, so he joined the school’s amateur team, and his coach was Ismail Wehbe, brother of the artist Youssef Wehbe.
