“Hindu Mahasabha activists arrested for slaughtering cows in the name of Muslims”

Four workers of the All India Hindu Mahasabha have been arrested in Agra, Uttar Pradesh for a cow slaughter case. The Uttar Pradesh Police shared the pictures of the accused who were recognized as Hindu Mahasabha activists. They have been charged under the Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act, which carries a maximum punishment of ten years of rigorous imprisonment, along with a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh. Reports suggest that the incident took place to fuel communal riots. The police have said that Sanjay Jat, the spokesperson of Hindu Mahasabha, was the mastermind behind the incident. However, the accused’s phone location didn’t prove they were present in the area when the crime was committed. Mohammad Shanu and Imran Qureshi, who were among those arrested, will soon be released. The incident has raised concerns regarding the attempt to disrupt communal harmony during the Ram Navami celebrations.

Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra said that this is the political style of BJP and Hindu Mahasabha workers slaughtered cows to create communal riots. Their response was through a tweet.

Various national media are reporting that the All India Hindu Mahasabha leader tried to pin the blame on the Muslims following killing the cow, quoting the police.

There are reports that there is an attempt to break the communal harmony behind the cow slaughter during the Ram Navami celebrations.

The police said that Hindu Mahasabha spokesperson Sanjay Jat was the main mastermind of the incident. The news regarding this has been reported by The Telegraph.

The investigating officers have confirmed the presence of Sanjay and others in the area where the cow was slaughtered. Even following checking the phone location of the accused, it was not possible to prove that they had gone to the area recently. The police informed that the arrested Mohammad Shanu and Imran Qureshi will be released soon.
