It’s a parody that has met with immense success: seen nearly 30 million times on social networks in nearly three days, “L’heure de trop” is a delight for Internet users.
In this sketch lasting a good quarter of an hour published on YouTube, comedian Malik Bentalha makes fun of “L’heure des pros”, the talk show presented on CNews by Pascal Praud. mocking the extremely conservative tone of the show’s speakers, “L’heure de trop” features the imaginary Patrick Traud and his false guests, including Larsen Harbouni, imam of Nancy, (caricature by Hassen Chalghoumi, regularly present on the CNews set) or the disheveled Vivianne Bouchard (inspired by Élisabeth Levy).
This hilarious parody tackles subjects almost as offbeat as in the real show, with themes such as “Is the djellaba a religious garment?” or “A police officer attacked in a high school: should the students be banned?”
The discussions, deliberately very right-wing to the point of absurdity, follow one another on the set, with a few trendy CNews banners: “Floods in Pas-De-Calais, the favored Islamist track” or even “Gérald Darmanin: ‘When children play Arabic telephone, the whole republic is attacked’.
Faced with the popular triumph of this spicy parody, Pascal Praud reacted: “I am made to appear as a reactionary when I am rather an anarchist. I love freedom above all else. (…) The rest is caricatured but honestly it’s not bad. Being parodied is the price of success. We don’t caricature what doesn’t exist. Afterwards, as always, I regret the over-instrumentalization of this sketch on social networks,” he says, posing a bit as a victim.
