A Boa Constrictor snake was captured on Saturday followingnoon in Frasnes, near Tournai, by a team from the NAC (new pets) from the Picardy Wallonia rescue zone. The animal was entrusted to a specialist who will try to identify the snake, we learn from the firefighters. The Wallonia Picardy emergency services were alerted on Saturday, around 12:15 p.m., to the presence of a snake along the path from Ellignies to Ellignies, in the entity of Frasnes-lez-Anvaing. It was hikers, who saw the animal whose body was overflowing on the road, who alerted the firefighters.

The witnesses had the reflex to send photos to the rescuers. “Witnesses were immediately told to stay away from this animal, which can be dangerous, and above all not to try to capture it”, explains the captain of the Wallonia Picardy rescue zone Eric Stasik who led the intervention. Very quickly on the spot, a team of the NAC of the firefighters of Leuze-en-Hainaut undertook a beat to get their hands on this snake.

“At first, we thought it was a Python. After an hour of searching, we managed to locate and then control the animal. It is in fact an adult Boa Constrictor doing two meters long”says the officer.

A specialist in the field went on site when the animal was already captured. After verification, it appears that the animal is not chipped. Its owner has not yet been identified. This is an adult-sized snake, probably a male according to initial findings.
