Four people were arrested during an action carried out during the night from Saturday to Sunday along the E411, in the province of Namur, the federal police announced in a press release on Sunday. The operation took place between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. Several drivers also had their driving licenses revoked because they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

This action, organized by the Coordination and Support Department and the Federal Highway Police of Namur, mainly aimed at the problem linked to the movements of perpetrators in the context of robberies in homes, car and home jacking as well as the transport of narcotics. The location of the check was chosen carefully, because it is a central point of motorway traffic. This is what Commissioner Lionel Lheureux explained to RTL Info: “This brings together three main axes of Belgium. There is traffic which comes from France, and which goes up and down towards Luxembourg. has the traffic which comes from Antwerp, and which passes through Brussels to go straight down to France. There is also the traffic which comes from Maastricht and Liège, and which takes the Namur interchange to go back down to France. Checking cars at this location increases the chances of coming across “traffickers like go fast or other traffic of all kinds”, because this axis is “very frequented by foreign vehicles”.
